Project Catfish, a high-profile, multi-agency operation spearheaded by the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) and the Haldimand OPP, has successfully dismantled a major drug trafficking network spanning Halton and the Greater Toronto Hamilton Area. This operation, which involved significant collaboration with Hamilton, Toronto, Waterloo, and Niagara police forces, led to simultaneous execution of nine search warrants.
The bust resulted in 11 arrests and the seizure of illegal firearms, ammunition, cash, and drugs with an estimated street value of $700,000. Items confiscated include multiple kilograms of methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl, as well as loaded firearms, crossbows, and $120,000 in cash. The operation highlights the dangers posed by drug trafficking and the importance of inter-agency coordination in ensuring public safety.
Detective Sergeant Derek Moyes of the HRPS Criminal Investigations Bureau emphasized that removing these substances and weapons from the community is vital to reducing drug-related harm and violence. The successful operation serves as a stark reminder of law enforcement’s dedication to protecting residents from the threats posed by organized crime.
