Halton Launches Annual Kozy Kids Program

Publisher 3 months ago 0 9

The Halton Regional Police Service’s Youth Engagement Team successfully distributed nearly 300 snowsuits to children in need as part of the annual Kozy Kids initiative. Since its launch in 2021, this program has provided over 1,150 snowsuits to underserved youth, including many newcomers to Canada, who might otherwise face hardships during harsh winters.

The 2024 campaign introduced coat tags in multiple languages, such as English, Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, and Urdu, with resources on reporting hate and bias-motivated crimes. Community support played a significant role, with donations and partnerships enabling this milestone.

Inspector Bruce Dickson expressed gratitude for the overwhelming community support, highlighting the initiative as a “labour of love” that addresses urgent needs and fosters inclusivity. Organizations like Halton Women’s Place also benefited, providing coats to clients facing financial challenges after leaving abusive situations.

This initiative underscores Halton’s commitment to community well-being and its focus on supporting vulnerable residents.
